We hope to see you at our Community Meetings - please check the left column for the next meeting time and location.
PROJECT TEAM:
Joshua Burroughs, BSB Development
Christy Marbry, BSB Development
Jeff Current, BSB Architecture
Steve Andrews, BSB Construction
Here are some quick facts about the project:

- 4 Phase Project
- Location is the block surrounded by Taylor Street, Miller Street, Asbury Street, and North 1st Street in San Jose, CA
- Total land area is 2.8 Acres
- Phase I is complete and has 75 apartments, located on the corner of Miller and Asbury Streets
- The project currently conforms to the City of San Jose General Plan allowing 200 Feet in building height (only one of the proposed new towers reaches the 200 foot limit)
- Project is preparing to match the general plan at the Planned Development (PD) Re-zoning phase and add an additional 100 units, for a total of 500 (including Phase I)
- After receiving comments back from the City of San Jose Architectural Review Committee in 2008, the project has been redesigned to offer more natural light and warm architectural elements to the block (See conceptual images below)
- Vendome is currently being certified under the Transform GREENTrip Program >Click HERE for more information on the program
- Vendome is a Transit Oriented Development and located on a transit corridor next to the Civic Center Light Rail Station. Learn more about TRANSIT ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT by >Clicking HERE
GREEN FEATURES and WHY TRANSIT ORIENTED IS IMPORTANT:
As San Jose grows, we need to think about "Smart Development," which includes projects next to public transit, and ones that offer incentives for new residents to drive less. We are looking to provide the following features on Vendome Block:
- Offer majorly discounted ECO-passes for residents that want them (this incentivizes residents to use VTA's Light Rail and Bus service (BSB believes that the new VTA Rapid Bus Transit will be complete by the end of Phase II Construction)
- Electric Car Charge Stations on site (by the time Phase II is complete, we believe there will be many more residents that will have electric vehicles....and we'd like to promote that type of use)
- State-of-the-art bike racks and scooter lockers that are safe & enclosed (we are providing a significant number of bike racks in hopes that residents will ride to work in San Jose)
- Car Share program (BSB is researching a car share program where we would purchase a few Toyota Priuses (or equivalent) to encourage residents to ride public transit, and only use the car share cars for specific trips like grocery shopping, etc.) (This would be the first car-share program in San Jose)
- Waste Heat Recovery Systems (we are looking into capturing heat and pressure from our Heating and Air Conditioning Systems (HVAC) and provide onsite electricity generation through a new technology partner we are working with) (This could provide a significant amount of power on site, as we strive to keep the project net zero on energy consumption)
- LANDMAKER Structural System ( our towers utilize a patent pending structural system developed in-house by Barry Swenson Builder that utilizes local materials and creates a building envelope that is highly energy efficient and super-strong in regards to potential seismic events like Earthquakes) >Click here to learn more about LANDMAKER.
- Rain Recovery Systems: BSB is looking into how to capture rain water in storage tanks below the parking garage to feed our plants and foliage on the property
- BSB will strive to use eco-friendly building materials as well like low VOC paints, carpets, cabinets, etc. (VOCs are bad for humans; one example of a high VOC product is the "new car smell" in new purchased vehicles, which is bad for humans)
