Union City is the next great example of transit oriented development in the Bay Area. Barry Swenson Builder has teamed up with the City of Union City and Mid-Peninsula Housing to develop a mixed use community immediately adjacent to the Union City BART station. The project will transform not only the old industrial grounds West of the BART tracks; it will create a state-of-the-art transit hub for commuters of all types as well as add public amenities such as public plazas, pedestrian paths and retail shops.
The vision began many years ago as the City of Union City began shaping their dream of transforming the station area around the Union City BART Station. On November 13, 2007, a ground breaking ceremony was held which crowned the construction commencement of BART, bus (AC Transit and Union City Transit) and the passenger rail (Capitol Corridor, Dumbarton Rail, ACE).
