Here's an interesting twist on Bay Area Real Estate that only occurs up in the mountains!  Check out the info below from our community partners at the YMCA.

Located in Boulder Creek California, YMCA Camp Campbell is nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountainsand surrounded by the redwood forest. One highlight of the renovation project is construction of a new 9000sf Dining Lodge facility.

The new Lodge facility is being made up of 18”-24” diameter western red cedar logs.  Each log is hand carved and systematically stacked creating a large “Log Cabin” type building.  While the entire log structure is being pre-fabricated by Pioneer Log Homes in Williams Lake BC, foundations at the site are simultaneously being built and will be completed to receive the log package in April 2010.

Once the log package arrives onsite it will take (2) weeks to reassemble the structure onto its new permanent foundation.  It’s at this point the delicate dance of site logistics will begin.  This includes safety, material and equipment staging, crane access, and camp staff coordination as campers will be in session!!

Several months ago I spoke with the Camp Campbell director concerning the sad state of the side streets being used by construction crews and equipment. I was told that, since the heavy equipment couldn't get to the site through the camp, they had to use the side streets. I was told, further, that the streets had been photographed to see the degree of damage the equipment was causing and that, once this damage was assertained, the roads would be repaved at Camp Campbell's expense. My BIG QUESTION is: When will the streets be repaved? They are being steadily torn up by all this heavy traffic and their condition is beginning to turn serious.
